Fiesole Cathedral, Catholic cathedral in Fiesole, Italy
The cathedral follows a basilica layout with a nave and two aisles divided by stone columns featuring carved capitals of figures and animals.
Bishop Jacopo Bavaro established the current cathedral in 1028 to replace the original structure, which was located at a lower elevation on the hill.
The interior contains a marble altar from 1273 and frescoes including a Saint Sebastian by Pietro Perugino from the late fifteenth century.
The cathedral measures 55 meters in length and 27 meters in width, with a prominent bell tower constructed in 1213 marking its presence.
The crypt preserves eleventh-century capitals from the original construction and displays Gothic medallions alongside Stories of St Romulus paintings.
