The Old Parish Church of Gries features stone walls, pointed arches, and a polygonal choir constructed in 1414 as part of its Gothic design.
Originally part of the Prince-Bishopric of Freising, the church maintained connections with Innichen Abbey through its assigned clergy until the 13th century.
The church houses a carved wooden altarpiece created between 1471 and 1475, depicting the Coronation of the Virgin with musical angels and religious figures.
Guided tours of the church and adjacent Benedictan Abbey operate at 14:30, lasting two hours and costing 10 euros for adults with free entry for children.
The church contains a Romanesque crucifix from 1200, possibly crafted in northern France, displaying international artistic influences in South Tyrol.
