Plose, Mountain summit in Eisack Valley, South Tyrol.
Plose is a mountain range in the Eisack Valley with three main limestone peaks, the highest being Gabler at 2576 meters (8452 feet). The massif stretches across the landscape and forms a natural barrier between the valley floor and higher Alpine regions.
The mountain formed through geological processes over millions of years, with limestone layers telling the story of an ancient sea that once covered the region. These formations became part of the Dolomite system that shapes the landscape today.
The mountain huts scattered across the slopes serve traditional local dishes that reflect how the region has fed mountain workers and travelers for generations. Food here tells the story of life in these high places.
The mountain is accessible for winter sports from December through April, with slopes and a toboggan run available during this season. Visitors should prepare for changing conditions at altitude and wear appropriate gear depending on weather.
During summer months of July and August, visitors can join guided mountain hikes to watch the sunrise over the Dolomites from the peaks. These early morning experiences reveal the landscape in changing light.
