Necropolis of Fossa

The burial complex spans 3,500 square meters and contains 500 tombs arranged in concentric circles and rows at different elevation levels.

The necropolis served as a burial ground for the Vestini people during the Iron Age, from 1000 to 800 BC, with continuous use until the 1st century BC.

The graves contain valuable bronze objects, pottery, jewelry, vases, and weapons that demonstrate the burial practices of ancient Italic communities.

The site functions as a public archaeological park under the management of the Comune of Fossa, with regular access for research and educational purposes.

Multiple stone slabs ranging from 0.5 to 4.0 meters in height form distinctive burial circles similar to other Italic sites in the region.
