The International Red Cross Museum displays surgical instruments, medical equipment, uniforms, relief vehicles, and documents representing the Red Cross movement's evolution through time.
Inaugurated in 1959, this museum occupies Palazzo Longhi, where Henry Dunant organized relief efforts for wounded soldiers after the Battle of Solferino in 1859.
The museum preserves the original edition of 'A Souvenir de Solferino' by Henry Dunant, which established the foundations of the Red Cross movement.
The museum operates from Tuesday to Sunday with seasonal schedules: April to October 9:00-12:00 and 15:00-18:00, November to March 9:00-12:00 and 14:00-17:00.
Two of Italy's earliest functioning ambulances remain in the museum collection: a 1929 FIAT 507 and a 1930 FIAT 521.
