San Marco al Molo

San Marco al Molo features three naves supported by columns with black stone headbands and contains multiple architectural elements from different periods.

The church, constructed in 1173, underwent major renovations in the 16th and 17th centuries, including the relocation of its main entrance to the apse.

The addition of Saint Mark's lion relief from Pola in 1380 represented a deliberate statement against Venetian influence in the Mediterranean region.

Located at Via del Molo 18 in Genoa, the church maintains regular opening hours and remains an active place of worship within the Roman Catholic tradition.

For centuries, the church provided final blessings to condemned individuals before their execution at the nearby Porta Siberia.
