Santa Croce Church

Santa Croce Church stands in the center of Moneglia with a baroque facade decorated by two heavy chains from the port of Pisa. The building has a single nave and shapes the appearance of the town square.

After the previous church collapsed, this building was constructed in 1725 to serve the local community. It was built in the baroque style and has remained a focal point ever since.

The interior holds artworks that mean something to locals, including a statue of the Immaculate Conception created by Anton Maria Maragliano and an old Byzantine crucifix. These pieces reflect the spiritual life of the community.

The church welcomes visitors who want to explore its baroque architecture and interior. It is easy to reach on foot from Moneglia's beach and harbor areas.

The facade displays two chain links captured during the Battle of Meloria in 1284 by a local resident named Trancheo Stanco. These historical pieces remain visible as a reminder of an old maritime episode.
