Forte Cima Lan, Mountain fort in Arsiè, Italy.
Forte Cima Lan is a mountain fort in Arsiè located at roughly 1,250 meters (4,100 feet) above sea level with concrete structures and multiple underground levels. The building contains various chambers and corridors designed for military operations and soldier accommodation.
The fort was built in 1908 under the direction of Captain Antonio Dal Fabbro as a defensive installation along an Italian military line. It was intentionally destroyed in 1917 during Italian forces' strategic retreat from the area.
The fort displays military building practices from the early 1900s that visitors can observe in its construction and layout. The arrangement of rooms and spaces reveals how soldiers once lived and worked within these structures.
Access starts from Arsiè following signs toward Col Perer, then continues with a ten-minute walk along a dirt path to reach the fort. The route is straightforward on foot but gains elevation, so appropriate walking shoes are recommended.
The electrical power station contains visible depressions in the floor where generators and a flywheel were once mounted. Ceramic insulators still mark the paths where electrical cables once ran throughout the structure.
