Sanctuary Madonna del Buon Consiglio

The Sanctuary Madonna del Buon Consiglio is a basilica with three naves that lead toward a spacious presbytery decorated with colorful marble and numerous artworks. The interior holds multiple altars arranged throughout the space.

The original structure was founded in 1356, and in 1467 Petruccia de Nocera initiated a major reconstruction. This extensive rebuilding merged the old foundation with new additions into one unified church.

The Augustinian friars have maintained this space for centuries, caring for the venerated fresco of Mary with the infant Jesus at its heart. Visitors come to pray before this sacred image and seek spiritual comfort.

The sanctuary is open during regular visiting hours, and services are broadcast online for those unable to visit in person. Plan time to walk through the different areas of the building at a leisurely pace.

The main balustrade was created by Gian Lorenzo Bernini and was moved here from the Church of Santa Maria in Posterula in Rome. This work of art connects Rome's artistic legacy to this rural shrine.
