Sanctuary of Madonna del Sasso, Baroque shrine in Madonna del Sasso, Italy.
The Sanctuary stands on a rocky projection at 638 meters elevation, providing views of Lake Orta, the Mottarone mountain and the Alps.
Construction of the sanctuary began in 1725 following multiple reported miracles associated with the statue of Our Lady of the Rosary.
The sanctuary contains artwork by Lorenzo Peracino and an altarpiece panel painting by Fermo Stella depicting the Pietà.
The sanctuary complex includes a church, bell tower, parish house, and a square that functions as an observation point over Lake Orta.
Local women traditionally used the sanctuary square to bleach their homemade canvas, combining religious devotion with daily activities.
