Villa La Rotonda, Inverigo

Villa La Rotonda is a neoclassical residence on a hilltop in Inverigo defined by its massive dome, which can be seen from considerable distances. Two grand facades feature colossal caryatids that support the structure's distinctive architectural form.

Architect Luigi Cagnola designed this residence in the late 18th century by transforming an existing palace formerly owned by the Marquises of Caravaggio. This project represented his final major architectural work.

The villa once attracted writers such as Foscolo and Stendhal, reflecting its importance as a gathering place for intellectual circles of that era. Today the building stands as a reminder of how grand residences served cultural and social purposes beyond their architectural splendor.

The building currently houses a medical center providing rehabilitation and special education services through the Italian National Health Service. Keep in mind that access may be limited because the facility operates as an active healthcare institution.

From the summit of the dome at 376 meters (1234 feet) above sea level, one can take in panoramic views across the entire Brianza territory. This vantage point reveals the geographical reach and positioning of the structure within the northern Italian landscape.
