Castello della Sala

Castello della Sala is a medieval castle near Orvieto located on approximately 600 hectares of land. The property combines fortress structures with a Renaissance chapel beneath its gates and contains extensive wine cellars for modern production.

Construction began in 1350 when Angelo Monaldeschi della Vipera initiated the project, establishing a foundation for centuries of territorial control. The fortress shaped regional power dynamics throughout the medieval period and beyond.

The chapel displays a 15th-century fresco showing the Magi traveling to Bethlehem, created by painters from the Umbrian school. This artwork remains a focal point within the sacred space and reflects the artistic traditions of the region.
