Castello Estense, Medieval castle in Arquà Polesine, Italy.

The fortified structure features a central building with a high crenellated tower divided into three floors, surrounded by a protective moat.

Guglielmo III Marchesella constructed the castle in 1146 as a defensive stronghold, which later became property of the Este family through marriage in 1187.

The noble floor contains secular and allegorical frescoes from the late 16th and early 17th centuries, including depictions of the Phaethon myth.

The municipal administration manages the castle, which functions as both a historical monument and a venue for local cultural activities.

The castle maintains its original brick construction from the 12th century and includes a centuries-old linden tree in its courtyard.
