Villa Giulia

Villa Giulia is a neoclassical residence in Bellagio featuring three floors with a central section displaying rusticated stonework on the lower levels, flanked by two mirrored side wings. The complex sits on a hillside overlooking the lake and is complemented by a formal Italian garden with a central fountain.

A count commissioned the house at the end of the 18th century and completed it in 1806 as a tribute to his wife. The villa emerged from an era when wealthy families began building grand lakeside estates on Lake Como.

The ballroom spans two floors and displays frescoes showing classical scenes painted by a renowned artist of that era. This space reflects the owners' passion for ancient themes and serves as a window into their artistic taste.

The ascent involves climbing a lengthy stone staircase from the waterfront, requiring some physical effort. Once at the top, visitors find a well-maintained garden space offering rest areas and room to explore.

From the property one can see both branches of Lake Como at the same time, a rare visual perspective that few spots in the region offer. This special geographical position was likely decisive in choosing the building site.
