Franciscan Church, Gothic church in Old Town Bolzano, Italy
The Franciscan Church stands north of Piazza delle Erbe Square, featuring a choir, tower, and cloister with medieval architectural elements throughout its structure.
The structure underwent reconstruction in Gothic style after a fire in 1291, with the vault completion occurring in the 15th century and additional modifications in 1790.
The church contains the wooden Klocker Altar from 1500, Gothic frescoes in the cloister, and early Gothic murals within the Erhard Chapel.
The church welcomes visitors daily from 10:00 to 17:30 except Sundays when it opens at 14:30, with German services on Saturdays and Italian services on Sundays.
The Erhard Chapel holds medieval murals and maintains connections to tales of visits by young Francis of Assisi and his father.
