Oitekaze stable, Sumo training center in Sezaki, Japan.
Oitekaze stable is a facility in Sezaki, Saitama, where sumo wrestlers live and practice their daily routines under the guidance of experienced coaches. The building is located roughly 15 minutes on foot from Yatsuka Station on the Tobu Isesaki Line and serves as both a residence and a training ground for the wrestlers.
Former maegashira Daishoyama founded this facility in October 1998. In December 2016, it transferred from the Isegahama ichimon to the Tokitsukaze ichimon, a different group of stables within the sumo world.
Wrestlers adopt ring names beginning with the characters 大翔 or 大, showing respect to their coach Daishoyama. This naming pattern follows a traditional practice in the sumo world, where students express their connection to their master through their chosen names.
The facility is located in the Sezaki district at 5-32-22, roughly a 15-minute walk from Yatsuka Station. Visitors should keep in mind that training sites are often accessible only by prior arrangement, and respect for the athletes' practice hours is expected.
Eight wrestlers from this facility reached the top makuuchi division, including Daeisho, who climbed to the rank of sekiwake. Several others attained the komusubi position, showing the quality of training at this establishment.
