Asahi Group Oyamazaki Villa Museum of Art

Asahi Group Oyamazaki Villa Museum of Art, Art museum in Oyamazaki, Japan.

The Asahi Group Oyamazaki Villa Museum is an art museum housed in a British-style manor house with modern additions on a hillside setting. Multiple exhibition spaces within the structures display artworks spanning different movements and periods.

The main building was constructed in the early 20th century as a private villa for a wealthy businessman. It was later converted and opened as a museum to the public in 1996.

The structures blend British architecture with Japanese garden traditions, creating a meeting point of two design worlds. Visitors can see how Western and Eastern aesthetics coexist within the same landscape.

The museum is just a few minutes' walk from two train stations, making it easy to reach. The grounds are hilly, so wearing comfortable shoes is advisable when exploring the property.

Several buildings on the grounds, including tea house structures, have received official cultural protection status in Japan. This recognition shows how the entire ensemble is valued as a historical legacy worth preserving.
