Cinéarte is a movie theater near Kuramotobashi Station in Tokushima City that stands out for its antique sofas instead of traditional theater seats. The space offers a more comfortable and relaxed movie-watching experience.
The building started as Kuramotoza Theater after World War II and was renamed Peace Theater in 1946. Over the years, it divided into separate cinema venues before reopening under a new identity.
The theater partners with local artists and hosts regular live performances and discussion events alongside film screenings.
The venue provides about 150 parking spaces and an adjoining cafe for visitors. These facilities make it convenient to spend time before or after a movie screening.
The theater reopened in December 2008 after cinema had temporarily vanished from the city. Its return brought back film screenings to the community.
