Futagozuka Kofun

The Futagozuka Kofun extends 68 meters in length, featuring both square and circular sections, with a surrounding moat varying between 1.6 to 4 meters in width.

Archaeological excavations between 2002 and 2005 revealed significant artifacts including gilt-bronze dragon rings, iron spears, and horse equipment dating from the 6th century.

The tomb contains both anterior and posterior burial chambers, with a 12.5-meter-long passage and a tuff stone sarcophagus sourced from Harima Province.

The burial mound sits on a hill 50 meters above sea level and visitors can reach the site by walking eight minutes from Chikata Station.

The structure received National Historic Site designation in 2009 due to its dual burial chambers and collection of Haji and Sue pottery artifacts.
