Hyogo Prefectural Awaji Fragrance Park is a botanical garden on Awaji Island featuring over 60 herb varieties and approximately 50 aromatic tree species distributed across its grounds. The garden layout creates distinct plant zones where visitors can encounter different scents and landscape arrangements throughout their walk.

The park contains a shrine dedicated to the ceremonial robes of Emperor Junnin from the 8th century, linking the location to Japan's early imperial history. This connection to the Heian period remains part of the site's historical identity.

The park serves as a station on the Awaji Flower Pilgrimage route, blending natural plant collections with principles of Japanese garden design. Visitors experience how herbs and aromatic trees are integrated into a traditional garden setting that welcomes pilgrims and nature lovers.

The park is accessible via the Kobe-Awaji-Naruto Expressway with parking areas available near the entrance for visitors. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended since the grounds encourage exploration between different plant zones.

The park displays its largest collection of flowering herbs including lavender and rosemary between April and June, when plants emit their strongest scents. During this season, visitors naturally move through different aromatic zones created by the blooming plants.
