Nanko Park, Public park in Shirakawa, Japan.

The park spans 44.4 hectares within Nanko Prefectural Natural Park, featuring a lake with a two-kilometer perimeter path and 800 Yoshino cherry trees.

Matsudaira Sadanobu, the 12th daimyo of Shirakawa Domain, established this park in 1801, making it the first public park in Japan open to all social classes.

The park includes Nanko Shrine, dedicated to Matsudaira Sadanobu, and Suirakuen gardens where visitors experience traditional Japanese tea ceremonies with garden views.

Located 15 minutes from Shirakawa Interchange, the park offers free admission, accessible paths, parking facilities, and multiple dining establishments along Lake Nanko.

The park features 17 designated viewing spots selected by Matsudaira Sadanobu, marked with monuments displaying Classical Chinese and Japanese waka poetry.
