Himeji City Zoo

The zoo contains multiple animal enclosures spread across Himeji Park, featuring both Japanese native species and international wildlife in naturalistic habitats.

Established in December 1951, the Himeji City Zoo marked a new era of public education and wildlife conservation in post-war Japan.

The zoo conducts educational programs about wildlife preservation, connecting local residents with nature through daily animal presentations and keeper talks.

Entry fees remain modest at 250 yen for adults and 50 yen for children, with free admission for seniors over 65 and children under 5.

Visitors can observe animal interaction sessions twice daily, from 10:30 to 11:30 and 13:30 to 14:30, offering close encounters with various species.
