Shodoshima Olive Park, Mediterranean park on Shodoshima Island, Japan
Shodoshima Olive Park is a Mediterranean-style park set on a hillside with views of the Seto Inland Sea, home to around 2,000 olive trees. A distinctive white Greek-style windmill stands as the focal point, creating a European landscape in the heart of Japan.
The site commemorates Japan's first successful olive cultivation, which began in 1908 on Shodoshima Island. This milestone marked the start of domestic olive production in the country and established the island as a center for this agricultural heritage.
The site preserves the original film set from the live-action adaptation of Kiki's Delivery Service, transformed into a charming gift shop and cafe where visitors gather. People come here to connect with memories of the movie while surrounded by olive groves and sea views.
The park is most easily accessed by bus from Tonosho Port, a journey of about 35 minutes. It offers free parking for around 200 vehicles and operates daily from 8:30 to 17:00.
The park offers complimentary witch broom rentals, allowing visitors to recreate scenes from Kiki's Delivery Service against the Mediterranean backdrop. This unusual activity draws film fans eager to capture memorable photos in character.
