Tokushima Modern Art Museum

The Tokushima Modern Art Museum presents permanent exhibitions of Japanese and Western artworks within Tokushima Bunkanomori Park's natural surroundings.

Opening its doors on November 3, 1990, this prefectural museum emerged from the relocation of the original Tokushima Prefectural Museum established in 1959.

The museum maintains collections featuring works by Pablo Picasso, Paul Klee, Kiyokata Kaburagi, and Seishi Kishimoto, representing both Western and Japanese artistic traditions.

Located at coordinates 34.039814, 134.52671, the museum welcomes visitors from Tuesday through Sunday between 9:30 AM and 5:00 PM.

In 1999, the museum purchased a painting for ¥67.2 million that was later identified as a forgery by German art counterfeiter Wolfgang Beltracch.
