淀屋橋odona, Shopping center in Chuo-ku, Japan
Yodoyabashi Odona (淀屋橋odona) is a multi-story shopping and office complex in the Chuo-ku district of Osaka, Japan. It sits directly above Yodoyabashi Station and combines retail floors with dining options and office space across its upper levels.
The building was constructed on the site of the former Aihi Elementary School, which was demolished as the surrounding neighborhood shifted away from residential use. The area around Yodoyabashi had already been a financial center for generations before the complex was built.
The ground floor and upper levels mix specialty shops with restaurants aimed at office workers from the nearby financial district. Walking through the building on a weekday lunch hour gives a clear sense of how this part of Osaka works and eats.
The complex connects directly to exit 10 of Yodoyabashi Station on the Midosuji Line, so you can reach it without stepping outside. Shops tend to close earlier than the restaurants, so it is worth checking the hours for each floor before you go.
The complex is home to Japan's first CI-VA bag store and to Takeo Yodoyabashi Collection, a shop focused entirely on specialty papers of unusual quality and texture. The paper shop draws designers and bookmakers who travel specifically to browse its selection.
