Eboshiyama Park, Mountain park in Nanyo, Japan
Eboshiyama Park sits on an elevated plateau with views across the Yonezawa basin and the snow-covered Azuma Mountain Range visible in the distance. The grounds spread across a spacious area with walking paths that connect different sections of the site.
Between 1878 and 1910, local residents built this park from the ground up, marking the beginning of its long history. This community effort established the foundation for what would later become an important destination.
The park is closely tied to cherry blossom celebrations that draw visitors each year, who stroll beneath the evening-lit trees and experience this seasonal tradition. The blossoms have become so defining to the area that they shape how locals and travelers alike understand the landscape.
The park is reachable from Akayu Station by car in about five minutes or by foot in about 25 minutes. The best times to visit are morning or early afternoon to avoid crowds.
The grounds host more than 1000 cherry trees representing 25 different varieties, some of which are over 120 years old. This aged vegetation creates a sense of temporal depth during a visit.
