The park spans 88,648 square meters and includes tennis courts, an outdoor stage, walking paths, and extensive grass areas for recreation.

In October 1985, Wakamiya Park opened its gates to provide residents of Atsugi with a new recreational space and community gathering point.

The park features the Fugetsu pavilion, a gift from Yangzhou City in China, representing the international connections between the two municipalities.

The park operates from 8:30 AM until 6:30 PM during summer months and closes at 5:30 PM from October through March.

A preserved D51 steam locomotive numbered 1119 stands on display in the western section of the park.
