The Kagoshima City Hirakawa Zoo initiated its mission of wildlife conservation and public education when it first opened its gates on October 14, 1972.
The zoo incorporates multilingual QR codes throughout its grounds, providing detailed information about animals in Japanese, English, Chinese, and Korean languages.
Visitors can access the zoo from 9:00 to 17:00 with admission prices of 500 yen for adults and 100 yen for students, while children under elementary age enter free.
The facility stands as the only zoo in Kyushu region where visitors can observe koalas, complemented by a foot bath area overlooking the animal enclosures.
