Taiyo Park, Recreation park in Himeji, Japan
Taiyo Park is a recreation area in Himeji featuring smaller copies of famous structures from around the world. The grounds hold miniature versions of the Pyramids of Giza, the Terracotta Army, and Neuschwanstein Castle side by side.
A philanthropist founded the park to offer elderly people and those with disabilities entertainment and a travel experience. The site emerged from the desire to give access to world wonders even for those unable to travel themselves.
Visitors can meet residents from a nearby nursing home who tend the plants and help with upkeep. These encounters create an atmosphere of openness and show how different people maintain a place together.
The grounds open daily from 9 AM to 5 PM and admission costs 1,300 yen for adults with reduced rates for children. The paths are wide enough for wheelchairs and walking aids, so most replicas remain easy to reach.
A multi-story building with optical illusions stands next to the Neuschwanstein replica, blending traditional architecture with modern tricks. Visitors can walk through rooms where walls and floors confuse the eye and perspectives appear distorted.
