Nagisa Park

Nagisa Park, Waterfront park in HAT Kobe, Japan

Nagisa Park is a waterfront park along Nada Beach in Kobe featuring open lawns, walking paths, and multiple art installations throughout the landscaped grounds. The layout combines natural areas with designed green spaces, creating different zones for strolling and spending time.

The park was created as part of urban renewal following the 1995 Great Hanshin earthquake that severely damaged this coastal area of Kobe. The reconstruction transformed the damaged zone into a new public waterfront space.

The park displays contemporary art works and sculptures that are illuminated at night, creating an outdoor gallery space. Visitors can explore these installations during the day or evening while enjoying the waterfront view.

The park is best reached on foot from either Iwaya Station on the Hanshin Line or Nada Station on the JR Line, both offering a short walk to the entrance. The best times to visit are morning and afternoon when the space is less crowded and the artwork lighting can be seen during daylight or as dusk falls.

The grounds received an award for its integration of public space, art installations, and coastal development in an urban setting. This recognition honored the careful design that brings together nature, art, and city life in harmony.
