Arakawa Nature Park, Urban park in Arakawa district, Tokyo, Japan.
Arakawa Nature Park is a 61,068 square meter (about 657,000 square foot) green space in Tokyo with tennis courts, athletic facilities, ponds with swans, and flower gardens. The site contains distinct areas for sports, recreation, and nature observation throughout its grounds.
The park was created in 1974 on artificial ground built above a wastewater treatment facility. This development turned an industrial area into public green space for the city.
This space serves as a gathering point where locals enjoy outdoor activities away from the busy streets. Families and nature enthusiasts come to spend time among flowers, insects, and open green areas.
The park is accessible from Machiya Station on the Keisei Main Line or Tokyo Metro Chiyoda Line, with about a ten-minute walk from the station entrance. The grounds are flat and easy to navigate on foot, with clear pathways throughout.
The Omurasaki Observation Garden attracts rare butterfly species during summer months in a dedicated viewing area. An insect zone nearby lets visitors spot various beetle types that live among the plants and flowers.
