Ishanami Shrine is situated at the foot of a mountain in Mima, surrounded by dense forest. The grounds include a main hall, subsidiary shrines such as Kamon and Kamonori, stone lion guardians, and a burial site of an early Nakajima Castle lord.
The shrine was originally founded on a southern island and later relocated to its current location. Its name derives from a goddess mentioned in Japanese mythology as recorded in ancient chronicles.
