大興寺

Daikoji is a Buddhist temple in Chita featuring traditional Japanese wooden buildings arranged across its grounds. The main structures display Buddhist statues and sacred objects that visitors can view while walking through the site.

The temple was established as a regional religious center and served the community through Buddhist ceremonies and gatherings over many centuries. Its role reflects the importance of such temples in local religious life throughout Japanese history.

You can reach the temple by bus from Shinmaiko Station to the Ochida stop, then walk for about five minutes. The grounds are easy to navigate and allow for a leisurely visit to see all the main buildings.

During New Year celebrations, the temple performs a cleansing ceremony where Daruma dolls from the previous year are burned. This ritual marks a time of renewal and is something many visitors come specifically to witness.
