Ōtaki Cave, Limestone cave system in Gujō, Japan
The interior of Ōtaki Cave contains numerous limestone formations throughout its 700-meter pathway, featuring naturally sculpted walls and mineral deposits.
The cave system formed over millions of years through the chemical interaction between acidic water and limestone rock, creating its network of underground chambers.
Visitors discover formations within the cave that locals have named after recognizable objects, including one resembling the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
A small cable car transports visitors to the cave entrance, where they can follow a self-guided walking course that takes approximately 30 minutes to complete.
The cave houses Japan's tallest underground waterfall, measuring 30 meters in height and marking the endpoint of the accessible section.
