Chungju Dam

Chungju Dam is a gravity dam stretching across the Namhan River that stores water for multiple purposes including power generation. The facility generates electricity while also supplying water for irrigation and flood management in the surrounding area.

Construction of the dam began in 1978 and was completed in 1985 to meet the country's growing electricity needs. The project was developed in response to rising energy demands during South Korea's industrial expansion.
