Sokol International Racetrack, Motorsport racing track near Almaty, Kazakhstan
Sokol International Racetrack is a motorsport racing track in Almaty Region, Kazakhstan, offering several layout options for different types of competition. The main circuit runs through thirteen corners and combines fast straights with tight bends, while a shorter variant measures around three and a half kilometers.
Alijan Ibragimov announced funding for a motorsport complex in Kazakhstan in 2012, with construction starting two years later. Hermann Tilke designed the layout, bringing international racing standards to Central Asia for the first time.
The racetrack represents Kazakhstan's entry into professional motorsports, marking the nation's first major international racing facility in Central Asia.
The facility sits around seventy-six kilometers northwest of Almaty and can be reached via the A2 motorway and M-36 highway in roughly an hour from the airport. Visitors should expect open asphalt expanses and clear sightlines across the track, as the grounds are laid out with open views.
Beyond the main course, the complex also includes a drag strip and a karting track, allowing multiple forms of racing to take place at once. This setup makes the facility flexible and lets different events run at a single site.
