Pagramantis hillfort is a fortified mound rising about 20 meters where the Akmena and Gramančia rivers meet, located within Pagramančio Regional Park. The site preserves the raised earthen structure characteristic of ancient defensive settlements in this region.
The fortification was built in the first millennium as a defensive structure and remained in use through the early second millennium. Evidence suggests that a settlement developed near the fort, supporting a population over many centuries.
The area carries the name of Gramančia, a noblewoman from local legend who transformed into the river flowing nearby. This tale remains woven into how local people describe and relate to the landscape around them.
