Pagramantis Regional Park, Regional park in Tauragė District Municipality, Lithuania
Pagramantis Regional Park protects forest landscapes, river valleys, and wetlands spread across two districts in southern Lithuania. The park features multiple observation towers positioned to show views across its waterlogged terrain and natural landmarks.
The park was designated as a protected regional area in 1992 and contains nine ancient burial mounds within its boundaries. Several of these mounds served as medieval fortification sites that defended river crossings in earlier centuries.
The park contains educational walking routes that connect visitors with the natural landscape and help them understand the region's ecological importance. These paths show how the local environment has evolved and why protection of such areas matters to residents.
A visitor center in Tauragė district provides maps and guides for exploring the park's hiking network and viewing points. The staff can help you choose appropriate routes based on fitness level and weather conditions on the day of your visit.
A towering limestone outcrop rises 31 meters above river level and stretches 203 meters along the water's edge, displaying rock layers from the ice age. This exposed geology tells the story of how glaciers shaped the valley thousands of years ago and is rarely visible in such dramatic form.
