Pagryžuvys Manor, Neoclassical manor house in Pagryžuvys, Lithuania.
Pagryžuvys Manor is a neoclassical manor house standing on the right bank of the Gryžuva River in Lithuania. The building displays symmetrical facades and balanced proportions characteristic of neoclassical design, complemented by several surviving outbuildings from the original estate complex.
The manor was built in 1858 by architect F. Rimgaila for the noble families of the region. It subsequently passed through the hands of the Šemetos family, then the Pšeciševskiai family, and eventually came under the stewardship of the Jesuits.
The manor reflects Lithuanian aristocratic traditions through its architectural design and served as a gathering place for the regional nobility. It shaped the social life of the area through the families who called it home.
The manor is located in Kelmė District and is best explored on foot to fully appreciate the architecture and surrounding outbuildings. Visiting during daylight hours allows you to see the neoclassical details and river setting most clearly.
The manor underwent a dramatic conversion from an aristocratic residence into a Jesuit monastery over the course of its existence. The building still bears visible marks from its position near a front line during armed conflict, adding a layer of complexity to its physical appearance.
