Holy Virgin Mary's Apparition Chapel, Šiluva

This chapel is a small house of worship at a site of reported apparition, with its altar positioned directly upon a venerated stone. A statue of Mary stands above the stone, forming the focal point of the interior.

A bishop built the first wooden chapel here in 1663 after an apparition was reported in 1608. The current structure replaced this earlier building in the early 20th century as the site continued to draw the faithful.

Visitors walk around the central altar while praying, continuing a practice that has connected the faithful to this sacred place for centuries. The stone beneath the altar itself has become a focal point where people express their devotion.

The chapel stands west of the larger basilica and welcomes visitors year-round. Regular services and guided visits are offered, so checking ahead helps plan your time here.

The building was designed in the 1920s by a Lithuanian architect who blended French design influences into his work. This mix of styles makes the chapel architecturally unusual for the region.
