Lyduvėnai Bridge, Railway bridge in Lyduvėnai, Lithuania
Lyduvėnai Bridge is a steel structure spanning the Dubysa River valley and linking two regions of Lithuania. The crossing rises significantly above the landscape below and carries traffic between Radviliškis and Pagėgiai.
The original wooden bridge was built in 1916 by German military engineers to support wartime transport needs. After destruction during World War II, the structure was rebuilt and stands today as a remnant of early engineering efforts.
The bridge connects two regions and reflects how infrastructure shaped movement through the Lithuanian countryside. When crossing it, travelers experience the landscape from an elevated vantage point that locals have relied on for generations.
Access requires advance registration with the local authority, and groups of around 15 or more people need separate arrangements. It is best to contact ahead to understand current entry conditions and any seasonal restrictions.
This bridge holds the distinction of being both the longest and highest railway structure of its kind in the entire country. The exceptional elevation allows views across the river valley that few other vantage points in the region can match.
