Mikieriai footbridge

Mikieriai footbridge is a suspension bridge crossing the Šventoji River, constructed with steel cables and a wooden walkway surface. The structure connects both riverbanks and allows pedestrians to traverse the water safely.

The bridge was built as one of the few suspension structures in the region, following construction methods typical for local infrastructure projects. It emerged during a period when such river crossings created vital connections between remote areas of the district.

Local residents of Anykščiai District Municipality maintain traditions of crossing the Šventoji River using this footbridge for community gatherings.

Access to the bridge is available from both sides of the Šventoji with sufficient space for standing and movement. The walkway is designed for pedestrians and should be entered with caution during poor weather conditions.

The structure combines traditional Lithuanian construction techniques with modern steel components, creating a balance between craft and contemporary engineering. This hybrid design allows the bridge to preserve local building traditions while meeting current safety standards.
