Kaive Oak, Archaeological monument and protected tree in Kaive, Latvia

Located in Sēme Parish of Tukums Municipality, this English oak stands 18 meters tall with branches extending up to 13.7 meters in all directions.

The first documented mention of this giant oak appeared in Nedēļa magazine on October 30, 1924, describing its location near Kaive Manor.

Local stories tell of three barrels of gold buried beneath the tree's roots during the Swedish War when a neighboring monastery was destroyed.

A dedicated parking area and marked trail provide direct access to the oak tree, which measures 10.55 meters in circumference at its base.

Research by Guntis Eniņš indicates the tree is approximately 400 years old, contrary to previous estimates suggesting an age between 800 and 1000 years.
