Jaunmokas Manor

Jaunmokas Manor is a three-story brick building near Tume that combines Neo-Gothic and Art Nouveau elements in its design. Tall windows and decorative towers at the corners define the architectural silhouette of the property.

The manor was built in 1901 as an estate for a Riga mayor and changed owners several times before entering state ownership. It came under government control in the early 1900s and has served cultural purposes since then.

The interior shows traditional hunting lodge design with decorated tile furnaces, including one displaying historical scenes. Visitors can explore these handcrafted details that preserve the character of an early estate.

The building is easily accessible and surrounded by forest paths that can be explored on foot. Visitors should wear comfortable shoes and check opening hours, especially if planning to explore the surrounding area.

The State Forestry Ministry transformed the estate into Latvia's primary museum for forest management, showcasing traditional woodworking techniques. This conversion made it an unexpected destination for visitors interested in forest craftsmanship and heritage.
