Zentene Palace

Zentene Palace is a manor house built in late classical style with traditional features such as a central entrance, symmetrical windows, and a rectangular layout based on Berlin school design. The building sits among outbuildings that still show how the original estate was arranged.

The manor house was built between 1845 and 1850 and first belonged to the von der Bruggen family, later passing to the Lieven family. After changing hands several times, it eventually became public property and has served the community since.

The building displays decorative details and heraldic symbols that reflect the tastes and social standing of Latvian nobility in the 1800s. These elements tell the story of how the wealthy families who lived here wanted to present themselves.

The building serves as an educational facility today, having been converted from private residence to a school in 1938. Access may be limited during school hours, so it is wise to check ahead before planning a visit.

The estate still preserves the servant quarters, stables, and other structures that show how a 19th century Latvian property functioned as a complete working unit. These outbuildings are just as important for understanding daily life as the main house itself.
