Bauska Church of the Holy Spirit, Lutheran church in Bauska, Latvia.
The Bauska Church of the Holy Spirit is a white stone religious building located in the old town of Bauska. The interior contains carved wooden pews, a pulpit built in 1762, and an organ prospect from 1766.
The building was completed in 1594 and received its tower in 1623. The tower was later modified following lightning strikes in 1799 and 1815.
The Church of the Holy Spirit takes its name from Christian theology and serves as a gathering place for the local community. The interior reflects centuries of use by people who have worshipped within its walls.
The church is located in the old town area of Bauska at Plūdoņa iela 13a and sits within a park. Visitors should plan travel time as it is situated about 66 kilometers from central Riga.
Before 1904, the church housed seven painted memorial plaques, a number that exceeded what other Latvian churches contained at that time. These memorial pieces served as visual reminders for visitors to reflect on history.
