Idriss I Dam, Gravity dam near Fes, Morocco

The Idriss I Dam reaches 72 meters in height and extends 447 meters across the Inaouen River, forming a substantial reservoir of 1,186 million cubic meters.

Construction of the Idriss I Dam concluded in 1973, marking a significant advancement in Morocco's water management infrastructure and agricultural development program.

The dam bears the name of the first Idrisid ruler of Morocco, connecting modern infrastructure with the nation's medieval Islamic heritage.

The dam supplies irrigation to 72,300 hectares of farmland while generating 66 gigawatt-hours of electrical power annually for the surrounding region.

Located in the Gharb Basin, the dam's watershed area in the Middle Atlas mountains provides natural habitat for populations of Barbary macaques.
