The Zemstvo Museum consists of four buildings with a main facade featuring prominent extensions and a setback from the street line.
Built between 1854 and 1857, the structure initially served as an orphanage before becoming the headquarters of the Bessarabian Zemstvo administration in 1883.
The building incorporates eclecticism architectural elements, reflecting the diverse influences on Moldovan architectural development during the 19th century.
Located at 103 Alexei Shciusev Street, the museum complex includes a garden that functions as an outdoor venue for films and concerts.
The first botanical garden in Chișinău was established in the orphanage garden behind this building during the 1850s.
