Clock Tower of Prilep

The Clock Tower of Prilep is a 40 meter structure that rises above the old town and defines the city's skyline. A mechanical clock mechanism imported from Vienna was installed in the 19th century and continues to function according to its original design.

The tower was built in 1826 during Ottoman rule and marked a period of urban growth and architectural development in Prilep. This construction reflected the city's gradual modernization throughout the 19th century.

Locals call it Saat Kula, reflecting the Ottoman heritage embedded in the city's identity. This name and its role as a public timekeeper show how the tower shaped daily life and remains woven into how people navigate and experience Prilep.
