Our Lady of Graces Chapel, Qrendi, Roman Catholic chapel in Qrendi, Malta
Our Lady of Graces Chapel is a simple church building in Qrendi with three square windows on its facade and a stone crucifix at the top. The structure remains an active parish church with traditional proportions and materials.
The building was constructed in 1658 by Angelo Spiteri as a dedication to Our Lady of Victories. The chapel's dedication was later changed to Our Lady of Graces.
The chapel is dedicated to Mary, a devotion that appears throughout Malta's religious buildings and communities. Visitors can still use the side windows to pray even when the doors are locked.
The chapel is located in the Tal-Maqluba area and is accessible on foot. Access to the interior is limited to service times or special openings, so plan your visit accordingly.
A plaque on the facade displays 'Non Gode L'Immunita Ecclesiastica', stating the building does not provide sanctuary to those fleeing the law. This rare inscription reflects the legal rules that governed Malta in the 1600s.
